How Does It Work?
Life After Me is a user-friendly online platform that makes legacy planning simple and secure. Users follow a few easy steps to set up their digital vault:
The individual creates a Life After Me account and sets up their profile in minutes. They then upload and categorize their information and documents into neatly organized folders (e.g. identification papers, insurance policies, property deeds, online account credentials, wills, funeral wishes). The platform provides 16 dedicated categories covering everything from legal and financial assets to personal memories, ensuring all vital data is covered.
The member designates one or more “Trusted Appointees” – these are the loved ones who will have access to specific information either during their lifetime or after their passing.
Members can also designate up to three “Expert Advisers,” such as their financial planner, legal adviser, or insurance broker, just like Trusted Appointees. These advisers can not only view but also upload and manage important documents on the member’s behalf.
This all looks great, but how do I know that my important documents and information is secure?
Security and privacy are at the core of Life After Me’s platform. We understand that the information entrusted to the platform is highly sensitive, so we maintain a state-of-the-art security posture to protect it.
Life After Me is certified under ISO 27001, the leading international standard for information security management. This accreditation attests that we follow rigorous security protocols and best practices to safeguard data. From network security to operational processes, every aspect of our service is vetted to meet world-class security requirements.
All data on Life After Me is encrypted both in transit and at rest. We utilize SSL/TLS encryption for all interactions and store data on Microsoft Azure’s secure cloud servers, which adhere to high industrial security standards. This ensures that personal information and documents are protected by robust encryption algorithms and housed in a resilient infrastructure. Even we at Life After Me cannot view the information uploaded to members’ accounts.
We provide an extra layer of protection on accounts through multi-factor authentication (MFA). Every login can require a one-time code sent to the user’s email, mobile device, or an authenticator app, preventing unauthorized access even if credentials are compromised.
Life After Me undergoes annual penetration testing and regular OWASP security scans in collaboration with our security partners in the Netherlands. This rigorous and ongoing testing ensures the highest levels of security for our infrastructure.
